Michael Pau won first place in Aesthetic Technical Skills for a working lamp he designed and built.
Alex Paczka took second place in Overall Originality for a jacket he created using nothing but U.S. postal Tyvek mailing envelopes.
Congratulations to art students Alex Paczka, PAA junior, and Michael Pau, freshman, for their outstanding accomplishments at the Mount Hood Community College High School Art Exhibit.
Pau won first place in Aesthetic Technical Skills for a working lamp he designed and built. Paczka took second place in Overall Originality for a jacket he created using nothing but U.S. postal Tyvek mailing envelopes.
Mark Kooy, PAA art teacher, says they have a lot to be proud of and so does PAA. “Our students were competing with other art students from schools much bigger than ours. And they stood out.”
Kooy, a professional artist, loves inspiring and watching his students get hooked on imagination and creation. Pau and Paczka’s awards are a reflection of the gifts PAA has in teachers like Kooy.
The annual PAA Education Expo will feature work from PAA art students as well as projects from every department. You can switch on Michael’s lamp or touch and feel Alex’s jacket, May 19 at 5pm at PAA.
See and share pictures of all our art students’ work in our on-line student gallery. Find it at www.paasda.org/academics/students-gallery/.
