The Flag Flies Again: Trey’s Mission Accomplished

When Trey graduates from PAA next June, he can walk away knowing he made a difference. Ever since he arrived on campus, he's had a simple request: to raise and lower the school's flag each day.
Sadly, despite Trey's enthusiasm, the broken flagpole seemed to be perpetually stuck on a repair list where other needs always took higher priority. It was one of those things that just never quite made it to the top.
Until today.
Thanks to Trey's eager reminders, and the hard work of Kent and Bruce, the flagpole repairs are complete. A new rope and pulleys rise atop a freshly painted pole with new hardware (fabricated by our own Mr. Hughes) welded in place.
This morning Trey stood in the sunshine alongside his U.S. History and Government teacher, Mrs. Heald, and raised the flags again for the first time in far too long, and he already knew to position the flags at half mast today. Watching them catch the breeze and rise into the sky was a genuinely wonderful moment.
But the best part is not the flagpole. It is Trey. A student who cared enough to ask, who waited patiently, and was the one standing there when the moment finally came. Before leaving at the end of the day, Trey lowered and folded the flags into perfect triangles, entrusting them to Dawn until he returns on Monday morning. He plans to raise and lower the flag every single school day until he graduates.
That is the kind of student PAA is known and loved for.
Thank you, Trey. This community is better because you are in it. 💙
