We’re welcoming four new faculty and staff for the 2023-24 school year.
Adam Hinkley is teaching auto mechanics this year for PAA. He is the father of two wonderful kids. One is a senior at PAA, the other an eighth grader at Hood View Adventist School. His wife, Janiece (Zachrison), is a Class of 1994 PAA alumna. Adam graduated from Loma Linda University in 1999 with a master’s degree in physical therapy and currently works as an ICU physical therapist. Adam has been working and tinkering on cars since he was 12 and loves all things mechanical. He has restored two old cars and is in the process of restoring two more. Adam is looking forward to this new experience to see what God has in store.
A PAA Class of 1990 alumnus, Bob Palmer is teaching math this year. He comes to us most recently from Meadow Glade Adventist Elementary School, where he was the Facilities and Transportation Manager. Bob is a first-year mathematics teacher who attended Andrews University, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University, and is currently finishing his Masters of Arts in Teaching. You might recognize his name from his time at Big Lake Youth Camp for over 20 years. Bob is married to Jodie and has one son, two stepsons and a stepdaughter. In any free time, Bob likes to read, play board games, and get out into the forest hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing when possible. Bob has a heart for teaching and learning and is excited to start a new path at Portland Adventist Academy.
Jesse Emery is teaching Music Theory & Guitar, and Music Performance & Production. As a Portland native and Class of 2001 PAA alumnus, he says he is honored to join the team and continue the legacy of Tim Ellis and the music program. Jesse was in the original guitar classes at PAA, and has been teaching and playing music ever since. Other than music and teaching, his interests include reading, camping, travel and good food.
Kent Sheets is PAA's Plant Director. Kent is married to Teresa (Jordan) Sheets, who is an alumna from PAA Class of 1977. They have two daughters, Rachel and Brittany, and one granddaughter. Kent has worked in EMC engineering for the past 35 years. He is an avid motorcyclist, if it has wheels or gears he is probably trying to make it go faster. When he heard about the opportunity at PAA, he felt a true calling to come help out. He said he is excited to be here and serve our staff.
