Each year, PAA is enriched by international students who join our community from around the world. Some students spend just a few weeks with us, others a full year, and some all four years, graduating as proud PAA alumni. No matter the length of time, each student brings unique perspectives, stories, and friendships that shape our school in meaningful ways.
One of the highlights of their experience is the U.S. Culture and History class, where international students learn about American history and culture through hands-on, real-world experiences. Weekly field trips take students beyond the classroom to historically significant sites such as the Oregon State Capitol, Fort Vancouver, and Bonneville Dam. They also explore local culture through visits to places like the Humane Society, Powell’s Bookstore, Multnomah Falls, the Tilikum Bridge, and the Portland Art Museum - along with tasting favorite local treats from Pip’s Donuts, Slappy Cakes, and Salt & Straw.
Through shared experiences, learning, and everyday life at PAA, international students form close connections and friendships that often last a lifetime. We are grateful for the joy, perspective, and global community they bring to PAA.
