In the last two weeks, PAA's drama class has been doing what they do best: making us laugh, making us think, and pointing us toward something bigger than ourselves.
Last week's chapel brought us a modern retelling of Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and the BFF. Yes, the Big Fiery Furnace. We laughed, we were captivated, and we watched three young people stand firmly in their beliefs no matter the pressure around them. The humor, the rhyme, the deadpan wit, all of it worked beautifully to bring an ancient story to life in a way that felt completely fresh.
This week's chapel gave us Modern Samaritan, a challenge wrapped in a story. Drama asked us to look around, really look, and see the people in our world who need more than words. They reminded us that showing up means being with people, not helping from a distance or preaching from above. It was funny and convicting all at once, and we loved every minute of it.
And then during Student Life Assembly, we were treated to The Last Flight of 206, where passengers on a plane mistakenly believing they were headed for disaster paused to examine their lives, face their regrets, and choose to make things right. It was creative, hugely humorous, while also deeply moving, and it landed exactly where it needed to: on the importance of relationships with each other and with our Heavenly Father.
Three performances in two weeks. Three gifts to this community.
Drama class, you are a blessing to PAA over and over again. We cannot wait to see what you have in store before the year ends.
