Each January, the Friendship Tournament at Walla Walla University brings together schools from across the Northwest for a weekend where competition and community go hand in hand. This year, our Cougars varsity boys and girls basketball teams stepped into this staple tournament ready to compete and represent our school with pride.
On the court, both teams rose to the challenge. The girls played with poise and determination, leaning on teamwork and resilience in every matchup, finishing third in their bracket. The boys brought intensity and focus throughout the weekend, pairing strong effort with disciplined play and earning a fourth-place overall finish. In every game, the Cougars showed they belonged on the floor.
What stood out most, however, went beyond the scoreboard. Our students encouraged one another, showed respect to officials, and connected well with other teams throughout the tournament. Coaches and spectators alike noticed the character, sportsmanship, and unity our Cougars displayed.
We are deeply grateful to the coaches, parents, and friends who traveled, cheered, and invested countless hours into supporting our athletes. Your presence and encouragement matter more than you know.
The Friendship Tournament is more than a series of games, it’s a tradition that reminds us why we play. Our Cougars returned home stronger, more connected, and proud to have represented our school well, both on and off the court.
