Portland Adventist Academy embraces students of all faiths. Clear Christian values and teachings are an integral part of our day. If you spend an average day with us, you’ll find we seek our Creator every chance we get.
We believe so strongly in our students’ character development that we employ three ordained ministers in our chaplain department. Our Chaplain department, Pastors Greg Phillips, Stephen Lundquist and Les Zollbrecht, oversee the spiritual well-being of our entire student body. Together they guide our students in the study of the Bible, world religions, modern denominations and current conversation on important spiritual topics.
And they are not alone. Every one of our teachers seeks God on a daily basis and believes that our ultimate goal is to someday meet every student in heaven. Because of these values, our program is rich with spiritual opportunities.
Every Wednesday, we stop our busy activities and meet in the heart of our campus to worship. Our weekly Chapel services begin with a student led worship band. Preaching for Chapel includes professional speakers from around the world as well as our own students, area Youth Pastors, and teachers.
Students also have the opportunity to experience God during Bible Camp trips, a weekend long Youth Conference, student-led church programs called The Summit, Agape Feasts and three Week of Prayer events.
Community service projects, along with international and local mission projects are a very big part of what we do. In fact, several years ago we extended our spring break to a full two weeks so that we could better serve the growing interest in overseas mission trips. Over the years, our students have shared God’s love in places like Ethiopia, Fiji, Thailand, Peru, New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, Belize and our own home town of Portland. We’re committed to offering service and outreach opportunities so students can experience being His hands and feet.
